Easter in the garden

Easter in the garden

Easter is just around the corner and is early this year.  There is still plenty that can be done in the garden if you are feeling active!

The weather should be improving so now is a good time to get the garden furniture out of storage and give it a spruce up.  Plastic furniture will benefit from a wash with warm soapy water.  Wooden furniture may need a scrub with a brush to get rid of grime, or use a cleaning product. Protect hardwood with teak oilMaintenance kits are available to provide you with everything you need.

Paths and patios will benefit from a wash and scrub. Algon is a great cleaner for this.  Kill off any persistant weeds in the patio using Pathclear.

If the weather stays cool, it is still possible to plant seeds indoors on a sunny windowsill, or in the greenhouse.

Shop for shrubs, climbers and perennials - now is a good time to plant as they will just be starting to shoot and grow for the new season.  Make sure they are watered in well and keep them well watered through their first season.

Prepare for a slug invasion!  Inevitable and annoying - so be prepared!

And as we are thinking positive - get out in the garden and enjoy the sunshine!  Happy Easter.
