Caring for your Christmas Tree

Christmas is only a month away!  Lots of beautiful Christmas trees have been arriving in our Garden Centre.  We have traditional Norway Spruce, which look good and smell wonderful, but will require regular vacuuming!  We also stock Nordmann trees, which are 'low needle drop', meaning they will drop some needles, but not many, even when they have been inside for all the Christmas period.

We recommend the following tips to keep your tree in tip top condition -

If possible, cut an inch (2.5cm) off the trunk when you first get it home and leave the tree in a bucket of water until you are ready to bring it indoors.

DON'T bring it in just yet!  Keep your tree outdoors until 2 weeks before Christmas and it will stay fresher.

When you bring your tree indoors, use a bucket filled with stones and water, or ideally, a stand that will hold the tree in place which also has room for water.  Keep the tree watered regularly.

Do NOT put the tree next to a radiator or fire - it is guaranteed to dry out if you do this, no matter how much you water it!

Enjoy your real tree.  Or for a low maintenance, use every year option, we have a large range of artificial trees in stock.

Our team at the Garden Factory and Abercorn wish you all a Merry Christmas.
